Commissioning & Performance test run

Commissioning commences when the erection team hands over the plant to the commissioning team after the first trial run of the plant. The extent and the simplicity of the commissioning is dependent on how professionally the plant was erected. In the commissioning group there will be an electrical engineer, instrumentation engineer, mechanical engineer, and the head with some technicians.

The primary thing in a commissioning team is to thoroughly survey the plant and the system and fulfill the allocated tasks. Before commissioning one should be clear about the operation philosophy of the plant, nearby systems, extent of completion of the different systems and subsystems. After the commissioning is the test runs of the plant which is executed in the following ways:

  • Clean the plant
  • Dry run test to inspect the integration of equipment, rotation of motors, etc.
  • Water test simulates the production by using water
  • Test run the plant with the actual material as the production being.
  • The test is carried out in witness of the client or authorized representatives.
