Noida, 05 June, 2017. Global EPC and turnkey project management company, Nuberg has been awarded with Caustic Soda Plant project as a single-point solution company, from concept to commissioning, on EPC & LSTK basis by Egyptian Petrochemicals Company (EPC) in Alexandria, Egypt. Nuberg will be setting up a caustic soda-chlorine plant having production capacity of 228 TPD expandable up to 342 TPD in future. The $27 million project will be based on the latest new generation bipolar membrane cell technology (BICHLOR). The plant will produce caustic soda, chlorine and other chlorine derivatives such as sodium hypochlorite and hydrochloric acid. Caustic Soda produced in the plant will be furnished mostly to the markets of Europe, Asia and Africa. Chlorine produced shall be used as a raw material in existing EDC/VCM plant for PVC production.
After winning a major chlor alkali plant contract in Abu Dhabi, UAE from Emirates Chemical Factory and a calcium chloride project from TCI Sanmar on EPC & LSTK basis, this contract is yet another triumph for Nuberg, making Nuberg the biggest EPC company for caustic soda manufacturing industry in the middle-east region in a short span of time. Signing of contract took place in hotel Hilton Green Plaza in Alexandria, Egypt. The ceremony was concluded after Nuberg's MD – Mr. A. K. Tyagi and Chairman of Egyptian Petrochemicals Company (EPC) – Chemist Gaber A. Hasan signed the contract. Dignitaries from both the companies were present in the ceremony.
On being awarded with the project, Mr A. K. Technology partner for the project will be INEOS Technologies which is UK based and has over 50 years of experience in technology transfer. INEOS & Nuberg have worked together in six projects so far – Caustic Soda plant for Inovyn in Sweden, Tasnim Chemical Complex in Bangladesh, SACHLO in Saudi Arabia, Global Heavy Chemicals in Bangladsh, Fluoder in Paraguay and SARL SASKO in Algeria. INEOS has more than 120 chlor alkali licenses around the world. They are licensed to supply more than 3.5 million tons of caustic Soda. INEOS Technologies will be process licensor. It will supply technology know-how and state of art electrolyser commissioning services. As a caustic soda technology supplier their partnership will prove to be beneficial for this project.
